Some questions are worth

following further.

Some questions are worth

following further.

The point isn't to confirm what I already think.

It's to discover what I haven't yet seen.

There are questions I can think through on the page.

And then there are questions that ask for something more.

They ask me to investigate what I think I know. To read beyond the disciplines I usually reach for. To listen for what complicates my own interpretation rather than simply looking for evidence that confirms it.

That is what

makes possible.

Not necessarily an answer. A better understanding of what can now be seen.

Every inquiry begins somewhere.

Sometimes it's an observation that stays with me after Mass.

Something my child says.

A conversation with a client.

Something I encounter in research.

A contradiction between what our culture tells us and what lived experience seems to reveal.

Or an ordinary moment that opens into a question much larger than itself.

I begin there.

Then I follow it.

Into research. Other disciplines. Conversation.

Theology. Philosophy. Evidence. Competing interpretations.

Sometimes into places I didn't expect to go at all.

The question determines the path.

Power has become one of the most misunderstood ideas of our time.

We often measure it through achievement, influence, status, productivity, or the ability to control outcomes.

I've become interested in a different question.

What does it actually mean to live powerfully?

Powerhouse explores the ordinary moments, enduring questions, and surprising connections that shape how we live, lead, create, parent, believe, and contribute.

Sometimes that conversation begins with neuroscience.

Sometimes with Augustine.

Sometimes with a conversation after Mass.

Sometimes with traffic on Highway 101.

Because living powerfully isn't something we master.

It's something we learn to recognize.

What You'll Hear

Not interviews for the sake of interviews.

Not another expert telling you how to optimize your life.

And not conversations designed to reinforce something I've already decided is true.

Each inquiry begins with a question and follows it beneath the surface.

Some episodes will be researched and narrated. Others will bring in people whose expertise, experience, or perspective can deepen the investigation—or challenge it.

Some questions may resolve.

Others may become better questions.

The form serves the inquiry.

The questions can lead almost anywhere.

Work and family.

Faith and ambition.

Formation and identity.

Responsibility and control.

Leadership and contribution.

Technology and culture.

Parenthood and relationship.

Psychology and neuroscience.

Philosophy and theology.

Sometimes the smallest moments reveal the largest questions.

The subject isn't the organizing principle. The question is.

Why I do this.

For years, much of my work centered on helping people understand themselves and the work they were here to contribute.

But over time, my own questions changed.

I became less interested in how much we could make of our lives and more interested in how faithfully we were inhabiting the lives we'd been given.

That shift has taken me more deeply into questions of formation, responsibility, ambition, faith, family, contribution, control, surrender, and what it means to steward a whole life rather than optimize its individual parts.

Writing gives me one way to stay with those questions.

The Inquiry gives me somewhere to investigate them.

To leave the boundaries of my own experience.

To encounter what I don't know.

To test an interpretation against evidence, other disciplines, other people, and a faith that does not place me at the center of the answer.

I don't expect every inquiry to end with certainty.

I do hope to see more truthfully than when I began.
